More than 2,500 walkers representing local businesses, families, schools, and other organizations participated in the JDRF annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, Saturday, October 27th at LSU’s Campus ‘Old Front Nine’ at the corner of Nicholson Drive and Nicholson Extension. The chapter has set a fundraising goal of more than $370,000 which will help fund research toward preventing, better treating, and curing type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. Over the years, the JDRF Baton Rouge Walk has raised more than $2.4 million.
The Walk drew an enthusiastic crowd of all ages, driven to support a gareat cause while enjoying an event that included food, fun and entertainment. The entire walk was approximately 2.5 miles long. Post walk activities included a toddler village, rock wall, slide, hamster ball, space walks and games by Best Buy. Food and refreshments were provided by Piccadilly, Brew-Bacher’s of Gonzales, Chick-fil-A, Capitol City Produce, Coca-Cola, Community Coffee and Another Broken Egg Café.
