JDRF’s greatest asset is our volunteers, whose passion and talents set the tone for our ongoing success. We’d be honored to have you as part of our winning team.
Dedicated and Active Volunteers are the Backbone of JDRF
JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes, a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Volunteers help define research priorities, select research grant recipients, lead advocacy efforts, and provide guidance to overall operations.
At the Louisiana Chapter, we have a host of volunteer opportunities available throughout the state for many ages, abilities and time allowances.
Below are several ongoing volunteer needs; if you are interested in any of these positions, please contact us at:
Louisiana Chapter of JDRF
Work at an Event – Pass out t-shirts or help set up Walk sites. Work behind the scenes at the Gala. Each year JDRF needs hundreds of volunteers to make our special events a success!
Committee Involvement- Help develop the Chapter’s communications strategy. Be a part of our Community Outreach Program. Serve on our Walk to Cure Committee. Help plan our Gala program. Solicit items for our event auction. We have diverse opportunities on our committees and we can match your interests and skills to a rewarding position.
Community Outreach Volunteers- Volunteers are needed to help deliver public-relations material, to distribute Bags of hope to local families, and to mentor newly diagnosed patients and their families.
Become an Advocate – Advocates receive legislative updates and action alerts via e-mail, and typically are asked to contact their members of Congress by e-mail, phone calls or personal visits two to four times a year. We provide you with background information, “talking points,” and contact information for your elected officials. The power of these individual contacts, as quick and easy as they are, is enormous. Sign up to be a JDRF advocate today, or email email@example.com for more details.
Organize a Fundraiser – Hold a party for JDRF! Coordinate a restaurant opening, baseball game, race, motorcycle ride, garage sale, or special shopping day – with the dollars raised benefiting JDRF and diabetes research. The only limit is your imagination!
Help Out in the Office – We would love to have your office assistance with mailings, phone calls and more.
